Terex is moving production of its range of Terex Compact (TC) cranes this month from the Peiner factory in Trier, Germany, to the PPM plant at Montceau les Mines in France.

The TC range is designed by Compact Truck and built under license by Terex. The first unit was originally planned to be shown at Bauma but was not ready in time due to ‘technical problems’.

International sales and marketing vice president Steve Filipov said that these problems had now been ‘completely sorted out.’ The main reason for the move from Germany to France was to ‘integrate the product lines’ Filiopv said. It was possible, he said, that major components of PPM and TC cranes could be combined.

He also said that there had not been enough space at the Trier facility to develop the TC range properly.

Filipov said that the first TC crane will be seen in iron for the first time next month at the Montceau les Mines factory. He said that the upper had already been built in Germany and would be attached to the chassis, which is now being built in France.

In January this year we reported that PPM general manager Jean-Marc Fleury had been relocated to Germany to become general manager of Peiner and head up the Compact crane project.
