Terex Cranes president Fil Filipov has struck a deal with IHI of Japan to sell IHI crawler cranes in Europe badged as Demag.

In return, IHI is given full rights to sell and service Demag cranes in Japan.

Filipov told ConnectingCranes that he planned to introduce all IHI lattice boom crawler models in Europe between 60t and 250t. The smallest crawler crane currently in Demag’s range is the 300t class CC 1800, although this is likely to be reclassified at 350t within the next few months, once the previously announced CC 1500, a lighter 300 tonner, reaches the market. Demag engineers were travelling to Japan, Filipov said, to establish what changes, if any, were either necessary or beneficial for the European market.

Terex already sells the IHI crawler crane series in the Americas with Terex American badges.

IHI has been represented in Europe in recent years by UK rental company AGD. AGD says that it will continue to be IHI’s exclusive dealer for the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
