In 2005 director general Magne Ognedal of the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway held the opening address. He was followed by director general Jan de Jong of State Supervision of Mines in the Netherlands in 2006. This year the conference is honored by the attendance of assistant director general Anne Højer Simondsen of the Danish energy authority. Conference organisers include the Norwegian Society for Lifting Technology and the Offshore Mechanical Handling Committee (OMHEC).

The conference committee has been determined to renew and improve the conference. The object of the conference is to contribute to increased crane safety through better knowledge of new technology, good standards and legislation, good products and services and best practices, all which will be provided through lectures, panel discussions, exhibits and networking. New this year is a special focus on deep water lifting operations and lifting through cessation work with offshore cranes on the installations and floating cranes carrying out heavy lifts. By this, the marine and heavy lift contractors are part of the program, hence adding special value to the conference.
