The company worked with turbine manufacturer Tocardo Tidal Turbines to transport and install five turbines, in a steel structure weighing 500t, to the OTP2 power plant project at the Easter Scheldt storm surge barrier.

As it was working with a flood defence barrier, Mammoet was unable to drill into the columns of the structure. The company therefore worked with Huisman Engineering to secure the structure using a pull-rod clamped onto each column, with a coupling jaw placed on each column to guide it into place.

The 50m-long, 21m-wide structure was mounted on 24 axle lines of SPMT, and transported on two coupled barges from the manufacturing facility at Schiedam, to the installation point at Neeltje Jans.
