TIONG Woon Crane & Transport has said that it expects to see its fiscal 2002 turnover rise 5% on the back of the purchase of a Demag CC 6400 crawler.

The Singapore-based group bought the 1,000t crane second-hand from Toyo Lease of Japan earlier this year. According to Demag, it is the largest crawler in the whole of southeast Asia.

Tiong Woon chairman KH Ang said it would take five to six years to get a payback on the S$8m (US$4.5m) investment. The eight-year-old crane was shown off to prospective customers at a company event on 11 June.

The CC 6400 is now working on the Seraya Power Plant project until early next year. According to the Cranes Today Handbook, this crane can lift 33t at 102m radius and has a maximum height under hook of 186m. It is second only in size, reach and capacity to the big Demag CC 12600.
