Dura Vermeer Materieelservice, the materials services section of the company, operates a fleet of more than 20 tower cranes. Dura Vermeer said its crane operators have a restricted view of loads and the jobsite during many projects, and so it required a system that would allow its operators a better view of the load and the lifting site.
It turned to vision system supplier, and fellow Dutch firm, Orlaco. Three of its tower cranes are already equipped with a vision system from Orlaco, with the new camera/monitor system installed on twenty tower cranes.
The camera/monitor system includes a wireless auto focus zoom camera system that is fitted on the trolley. The zoom camera is attached above the winch, so the machine operator can zoom in on the load or zoom out for an overview of the lifting site as required. The camera from Orlaco is also equipped with a battery that automatically charges when the trolley is in the starting position.
