Burkett, of Barrington, Illinois, filed his original application in August 2000 before he finally secured patent number 6,996,448 on 22nd November 2005.

USPTO explained that the crane has a hydraulically operated arm, which is mounted to a trailer and extends outwardly. A hydraulic power unit supplies pressurised hydraulic fluid to the crane arm, which can support a vibrating sheet piling driver. A vibrating hydraulic power unit supplies power to this driver.

The crane apparatus includes wide tyres for reducing surface pressure. This allows the apparatus to be transported across and used on delicate surfaces, such as grass.
