A new 40m-span suspension footbridge over the river Trent in Newark, UK was lifted into place by Ainscough Crane Hire in a three crane operation that was completed within one day. Ainscough’s flagship 800t Demag AC 2000 (designated AC 650 by Demag), rigged with 160t of counterweight, lifted and held the 51.5t structure in position. A 250t Demag AC 755 put a 32m tie bar in place using a 25m lifting beam. A 140t Demag AC 140 then raised a manbasket to enable the bridge to be connected. Ainscough was working for steelwork contractor Rowecord Engineering, which was itself employed by main contractors AC Moore.
