Canadian aerial work platform manufacturer Skyjack announced plans to buy Canadian telehandler company CareLift Equipment.

Part of the attraction is the sales channel, Skyjack said. “The addition of CareLift’s telehandler business along with the design and test abilities of the company opens up another large market for our Skyjack business,” said Linda Hasenfratz, chief executive officer of Skyjack parent company Linamar Corporation.

“The global telehandler market is worth $3 billion and growing. CareLift’s popular ZoomBoom brand is well positioned to increase market share by utilising Skyjack’s well established distribution network.”

Veri-Tek, maufacturer of Manitex cranes and Liftking rough terrain forklifts, acquired the Noble rough terrain forklift manufacturing business, from GT Distribution in a deal worth $4.2m.

President and COO Andrew Rourke was keen to stress the company’s manufacturing expansion plans: “We intend to integrate the manufacturing side into our existing businesses, to leverage our manufacturing capacity. We want to return Noble to its former glory.”

Under the deal, Veri-Tek released GT Distribution from $4.2m of debt, from a limited number of historic transactions.
