Danish crane manufacturer HMF has developed a loader crane specially designed for handling and servicing large tyres, in conjunction with UK company OTR, which claims to be Europe’s leading earthmover tyre specialist.
The crane has been designed to OTR’s specifications and is effectively a hybrid solution – with a model designation of HMF 2000T1-K1 OTR. The base and column are from a 2000 series loader; the inner boom and extension derived from a 1720-T boom, and the outer boom and extension were derived from an FJ9 fly jib. Once each piece had been modified and incorporated to match the overall specification, further touches were added, including fully hydraulic-out stabiliser beams, eight function radio remote control and HMF’s Electronic Vehicle Stability (EVS) system.
OTR’s managing director Chris Skelton said: ‘There was not a crane available in the marketplace globally which specifically fitted our needs, so we got together with HMF to develop one which could do the job.’
Over the next few years all of OTR’s Iveco 6×4 trucks will be fitted with the new crane.
