The Construction Plant-Hire Association has published its first-ever guide to the maintenance and thorough examination of tower cranes after a bad few years for the UK tower crane industry, with five fatalities in tower-crane related incidents in three years.

The hundred-page guide covers maintenance intervals, personnel, records, spare parts, and more. It also covers thorough examination practices, management, reporting, competent persons and site issues. Appendices include check sheets and sample forms.

Readers should submit comments to Haydn Steele at the Construction Plant-Hire Association.
