Kier Plant’s new fancy Fassis

It has started replacing its fleet of crane trucks working out of its seven depots around the UK. The first two newcomers, both Volvo FM 9-litre 380s with nine-speed manual gearboxes and TAG axles, have been delivered and are now working out of Kier Plant depots in Liverpool and Sharpness in Gloucestershire.

Equipped with the latest Euro 4 environmental engine using SCR (selective catalyst reduction) technology, each 26-tonne flatbed rig also boasts beaver-tail hydraulic ramps and a powerful Fassi F450XP remote-controlled loader crane, enabling Kier Plant operators to safely load and unload hefty items like site cabins and generators.

In addition, the company has placed an order for ten top-slewing saddle jib tower cranes to replace older stock, ensuring its 100-strong international crane hire fleet is kept up-to-date. Four new models from Potain and six from Liebherr, worth around £2.5 million in total, are due to start arriving in a month or so.
