Van Seumeren has backed out of takeover talks with arch-rival Mammoet, which has been put up for sale by its parent company P&O Nedlloyd.

Dutch heavy lifting/transport specialist Mammoet was put up for sale in the wake of its parent company Nedlloyd forming a joint venture with P&O of the UK, deciding to concentrate on its core business of shipping. In March Nedlloyd sold its European Transport & Distribution business to Deutsche Post.

Van Seumeren, Mammoet’s greatest rival, was one of several parties to enter talks but confirmed this month that it was no longer interested.
