Members of the team investigating an accident in which the boom of a crane fell onto a construction worker in Vermont, USA say it is too early to comment on the progress of their investigation.

It was reported two months ago in the Vermont local press that Timothy Thamert, 31, an employee of Carroll Concrete, was hit by a boom when he and three other workers were stripping concrete forms off a new wastewater tank.

Vermont Occupational Safety and Health Administration director Robert McLeod told Cranes Today: “The investigation is ongoing, and I am unable to discuss the case at this time.”

Shaun Carroll Snr, of Carroll Concrete, said: “As always, the concern and well-being of each and every employee is our main concern and focus. Our worker, Tim, is on the road to recovery.”

The crane involved is owned by construction company Blow & Cote, of Morrisville, Vermont, which purchased the 1970s model around 10 years after it was built. The company said the crane had no serious mechanical problems up to the time of the accident.

Investigations are continuing.
