Verticon, established in 2004, consists of the Melbourne-based Econ and Seca in Brisbane and Queensland.

Lockett has worked in project management on London’s White City development, among other jobs in the UK, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. In May, the company revised down its earnings per share guidance for its 2005-2006 financial year, blaming poor management in Victoria and increased pressure in Queensland. The company said it has “stabilised” its operations in Queensland and implemented a management overhaul in Victoria with the appointment of a new general manager.

Lockett replaces managing director Mark Kevin, who resigned in April for personal reasons, the company said. He heads up Verticon’s recently-restructured management team. Verticon’s executive chairman Noel Henderson, a former Multiplex and Costain executive, joined the company in March. Non-executive director Sam Fink joined in April. Andrew Torrington replaced Peter Cooper as chief financial officer and company secretary in January 2006.

In September 2005 the company bought Fire Up Cranes and Rigging in Sydney.
