LiftEquip Inc. has begun production of the Walk Behind mobile crane, one year after exhibiting it as a prototype at an industrial show in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.The prototype was designed for a manufacturer that wanted a safe and easy-to-use crane that could fit through a 1,070mm (42 inch) doorway while carrying 2.3t (5,000lb) at a distance of 2.7m (9ft) from the front bumper.

The hydraulically-driven crane has 90° steering, a boom that rotates 220°, an 8.5m (28ft) tip height, a 5.8m (19ft) reach over the front and sides, and a pick-and-carry capacity of 6.8t (15,000lb).

‘Operators can walk with loads, without the inconvenience and space constrictions of outriggers,’ says LiftEquip president Earl Swan.

Engineering of the Walk Behind crane was approved by rigging engineering consultant David Duerr of 2DM Associates.
