Weldex Cranes has expanded its fleet with the addition of a Liebherr LR 1500 crawler crane, which has now arrived in the UK and been put into service supporting a long-term client.
The new crane is part of a five-machine order with Liebherr that includes the LTR 1150 telescopic crawler and the LR 1300.1, with further deliveries of another LR 1300.1 and an LR 1700.1 scheduled.
The LR 1500 has a maximum lifting capacity of 500t and has been configured by Weldex with an 84m main boom and a 30m derrick system. This configuration is intended to provide flexibility for complex lifting tasks.
Weldex states the model’s features, which combine high performance with transport efficiency and ease of assembly, make it suited to a range of applications including industrial, infrastructure, and renewable energy projects.
Weldex managing director Iain McGilvray said: “We have a long-standing relationship with Liebherr which dates back to the 1990s.
“The combination of class-leading cranes and excellent aftersales back-up from the factory and the Liebherr Great Britain team provided us with the confidence to purchase this latest package of cranes.”
The five-crane investment forms part of Weldex’s ongoing efforts to enhance its lifting capacity in the UK.
The LTR 1150, a 150t telescopic crawler crane, comes with a 52m boom and can reach up to 84m when fitted with optional extensions.
This model’s compact size is designed for efficient transport, while the inclusion of Liebherr’s VarioBase system is aimed at optimising lifting performance depending on the track width and slewing angle.
The LR 1300.1 delivered to Weldex features a 74m main boom and can achieve a hook height of 109m when used with a 35m fixed jib. This crane is suited for projects demanding a wide working range.
Weldex’s relationship with Liebherr dates back over three decades, resulting in what the company describes as a strong partnership focused on supporting UK lifting needs.
