Joint Venture Dragados Sisk were contracted to build tunnels for the UK transport authority.
The underground railway lines will run throughout central and eastern London, from Farringdon station to various stations in the Eastern part of the city.
The team in charge of using the LR 11350 chose a day without rain and wind for lowering Elizabeth.
Weldex’s 1,350t LR 11350 crawler took weeks to assemble and used heavy duty equipment.
The firm will use a support crane to lift 10 gantries that act as back-up trailers for the TBMs, carrying materials during tunnel construction.
Contractors plan on assembling TBMs and their gantries underground creating two 148m long tunnelling assembly lines.
Eight such TBMs are constructing 21km of tunnels beneath London.
A team at a second site Limmo Peninsula will shortly repeat the operation with sister machine, Victoria.
Both TBMs are scheduled for maintenance before tunneling toward Whitechapel, Liverpool Street and Farringdon Stations in London.
