Using these figures, the association predicts that total employment in the wind generation business would double to 330,000 in 2020, with the majority working for onshore wind turbines. By 2030, though, with an estimated 375,000 people working in wind, a majority would be working for offshore wind power generation.
In 2007, the industry employed about 29,000 people in the most crane- and rigging-related areas: wind turbine farm development, installation, operations and maintenance. The EWEA estimates that the industry employed a total of 154,000 people in 2007.
