Canadian manufacturer Load Systems International (LSI) is promoting a wireless anemometer with a 600ft (182m) range. According to LSI president David Smith, competitor products typically have a range of 150ft (46m). A second distinctive feature of the LSI product is that it is powered by regular C cell alkaline batteries instead of lithium or proprietary batteries. A battery management system helps to lengthen battery life to two years.

LSI was formed two years ago by former employees of Wylie Systems who wanted to focus on wireless technology for crane monitoring systems.

LSI also produces a wireless boom angle indicator, a wireless anti-two-block system and a wireless unit that measures both load and angle and has an A2B switch. The company is now developing a wireless load moment indicator.
