Great Lakes Dredge & Dock of the USA has bought a pedestal-mounted 1979 American 9720 which has been remanufactured by Chicago-based Crane & Machinery Inc. The crane was completely disassembled and each component inspected and repaired or replaced as necessary, with American Crane making four separate progress inspections. American Crane also issued a 1999 serial number for it, qualifying it for finance and warranty as a new piece of equipment. The crane will now be mounted on a barge.
Manitowoc has appointed Hayden-Murphy of Minneapolis as its distributor for Minnesota, North and South Dakota and western Wisconsin.
Kobe Steel is to consolidate its Construction Machinery Division with the subsidiaries Kobelco Construction Machinery and Yutani Heavy Industries. Yutani manufactures construction equipment, Kobelco markets and services it. From 1 October all operations will come under the new consolidated Kobe subsidiary, Kobelco Construction Machinery.
Tractel Inc, Griphoist Division in the USA has moved to larger premises in Canton Massachusetts which has double the warehousing space of its previous facility.
The Construction Industry Manufacturers Association has set up a new product-specific group dedicated to boom truck crane manufacturers. It is the 18th product group set up within CIMA. CIMA also has a new associate member: Cranes Today signed up to the organisation during the Conexpo show in March.
The Korean Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (KOCEMA) has added its name to a new Intercontinental Statistical Agreement, joining the Committee for European Construction Equipment (CECE), the Construction Industry Manufacturers Association (CIMA), the Equipment Manufacturers Institute (EMI) and the Japanese Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (JCEMA).
