As part of a three-stage lifting operation a 1,000t XCMG 15000 was used alongside the 1,250t CC 6800 to lift the front section of the load over 30m from the ground, with the two 500-tonners tailing, before walking the load.
It was configured with 180t of counterweight for the job, which saw the four cranes move the load more than 200m over a four-hour period before placing it in front of the jacket for the second phase.
For the next phase the XCMG 15000 was reconfigured with a 90m main boom to allow the four cranes to lift the component 100m before walking the load to its final position as part of the jacket.
Finally the 800t load was manoeuvred into position for it to be connected to the jacket, with a high degree of precision, synchronised movement required from the crane operators to ensure the load remained in the correct orientation for over an hour.
XCMG said: "Cooperation between XCMG’s 1,000t-level crawler crane and the German 1,250t crane product proves XCMG’s equal power in the area of hoisting."
The firm says that this job demonstrates its domestic products’ capabilities in the field of marine construction.
