Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Co Ltd has signed an agreement to provide 76 container cranes to Euromax Terminal, in Rotterdam, Holland.
Euromax project director Hans Meeuwsen said the company would receive the cranes in several batches during a three-year period from 2006 to 2008, but would not disclose when the first cranes would be delivered. He was equally secretive about the financial aspects of the deal, reported by one source as being €175m.
The machines – STS barge and feeder cranes, ARMG and RMRC – will be moving and stacking containers.
Euromax is a 50-50 joint venture between container shipping services provider P&O Nedlloyd and Europe Container Terminals.
