Liebherr has supplied Brazilian crane and heavy haulage company TOMÉ with its 300th LTM 1500-8.1 telescopic crane.

First presented at Bauma 1998, the 200th LTM 1500-8.1 was delivered just two years ago. The 300th order marks the success of the Liebherr 500-tonner across the world.

TOMÉ was established in 1973 and has since grown into an organisation employing over 4,000 people. The firm operates in a number of markets including, engineering, technical planning, construction, crane operation and heavy haulage.

There are around 1,500 employees involved in the crane operation and heavy haulage sectors, operating 200 mobile and crawler cranes, and 700 transport units. Crane hire accounts for a significant share of business for TOMÉ.

The relationship between TOMÉ and Liebherr has been strong since the former placed a €40m order in December 2009. This included three LR 1600/2-W crawler cranes, an LR 1750, two LTM 11200-9.1 units, and the LTM 1500-8.1, which has now been delivered.

Reasons for the success of the LTM 1500-8.1 include its high lifting capacity and road and construction site mobility. With a 12USt axle load and a total weight in 96USt, it can travel up to 80kph (50mph), complete with all support elements and a four-part telescopic boom of 50m.
