Tat Hong's Australian crane rental subsdiary Tutt Bryant has bought Melbourne-based Bradshaw Ultra Heavy Haulage.

The company's staff and its equipment will be transferred to Tutt Bryant's Project Services Division, although the operation will continue to trade as Bradshaw Ultra Heavy Haulage.

Bradshaw assets include 44 axle lines of Nicolas platform trailers, four heavy duty 200t prime movers, support vehicles, various beam sets ranging from 120t to 500t and a comprehensive selection of hydraulic jacks, stools, jacking and skating systems to move heavy machinery and components.

TBG Managing Director David Haynes stated that having an additional platform trailer base in Melbourne will assist TBG’s Project Services to increase its operational presence across Australia.

“This acquisition will provide greater growth opportunities for Project Services on the eastern seaboard as well as enhance our ability to meet customer needs for logistics support in Western Australia,” he said.

The Bradshaw acquisition, combined with the separate recent purchase of 28 axle lines of Nicolas platform trailers and the expected delivery in 2008 of a further 44 axle lines (which include some self propelled units) will position TBG’s Project Services as one of the major platform trailer operators in Australia, the company said.

The mobility of these assets allows them to be easily deployed from coast to coast, it said. The demand for this type of heavy lift and shift equipment is increasing, especially among the oil and gas producers, power generation companies, wind farms, and processing plants. Suitable resources to move large and heavy equipment are in short supply, Tat Hong said.
