Siemens VDO has launched a set of instruments – the CANcockpit – designed to access engine control information directly.

Says the company: “The system processes not only the digital signals from two CANbus inputs, but also the analogue data provided by classic sensors. The master instrument controls up to 16 further display instruments and can be freely configured should additional functionality be required.”

The new system is based on a freely configurable combination of a master instrument and up to 16 display instruments which can be connected up as required. “This,” says Siemens VDO. “enables the master, as well as monitoring speed or RPM, to cope with an additional 25 engine signals via an integrated LCD display.”
