The European Special Transport Association (ESTA) has added its support to the European debut of the World Class Crane Management Seminar, being held 27-29 May 2002 in the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel, Netherlands.

ESTA crane committee members Søren Jansen of BMS, Denmark and Steve Cooke of Ainscough Crane Hire, UK are already on the panel of speakers. ESTA president Christian-Jacques Vernazza has now offered the support of the association itself.

ESTA is the organisation of national trade bodies for crane hire and transport, such as the UK's Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) and SNUG of France.

ESTA members are being offered a 10% discount for the three-day seminar.

In response to demand, a programme of technical visits has been added, including a visit to Amsterdam-based Royal Dutch Saan, one of the largest mobile crane hire and logistics companies in the Netherlands. Saan has about 100 mobile cranes up to 650 tonnes capacity, including a range of truck-mounted mobile tower cranes which will be demonstrated.

Other events include a 'best operator' competition on a crane simulator.

Liebherr has agreed to provide sponsorship for the event to help establish it as the lifting conference of the year. Liebherr technical manager Walter Länge has also joined the distinguished panel of speakers already lined up to speak at the three-day event.

Also added to the previously announced list of speakers are Ivar Horst, managing director of the Swedish company Piab Force Measurement, who will address the issue of 'why loads fall', and Rafael Mira of the Spanish wire rope producer Tycsa.

The seminar will be opened by Rolf Lovgren who is chairman of the ISO committee TC96-SC5 (use, operation and maintenance of cranes). Lovgren will also deliver a paper demonstrating the benefits of International Standards.
