GEDA hoists on heritage conservation site

Frederiksborg Castle in Denmark is undergoing renovation with the use of GEDA hoists.

The historic Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød, Denmark, is undergoing extensive renovation on its windward side. Two rack and pinion hoists from German work platform and elevator specialist are being used for this purpose. The construction project is expected to take three to four years and is a good example of heritage conservation work, GEDA says.

Frederiksborg Castle, built in the early 17th century, is considered the largest Renaissance castle in Scandinavia. The rooms and exhibitions within the castle house a collection of portraits, historical paintings, furniture, and handicrafts. Since 1878 the castle has housed the Museum of National History making it an important part of Danish cultural history. The renovation of the windward side and the replacement of the roof of Frederiksborg Castle are key steps in preserving the building.

A GEDA 300 Z material hoist is being used to enable scaffolding to be erected safely and efficiently. Then, for the renovation work, a GEDA 500 Z/ZP transport platform will be used. Due to two separate controls the device can transport both people and materials. For this project it will transport up to 30 metres, although it can reach a maximum height of 100 metres.

According to GEDA, the project has come about thanks to the long-standing cooperation between GEDA and its Danish sales and service partner Hejs.dk, who also installed the equipment.

The GEDA 500 Z/ZP can carry 1,000 kg or up to five persons and can also reach a maximum lifting height of 100 metres with a load capacity of 300 kg. Both hoists have lifting speeds that ensure efficient vertical transport, says

A highlight of this project, GEDA points out, is the installation of the GEDA 500 Z/ZP on a prefabricated platform in the water. It says thanks to the innovative force distribution and low anchoring forces, this transport platform can be anchored directly over the scaffolding.
