The annual general meeting of the UKÆs Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) in November heard that its membership is now at record levels.

Formed in 1944 as the Chain Testers Association, LEEA now has 112 UK members and 36 members overseas.

The steady growth in membership reflects the trend towards higher standards in the lifting and handling industries,ö said LEEA chief executive Derrick Bailes.

Changes to health and safety legislation over the past few years and in increasingly competitive marketplace has meant that LEEAÆs ability to provide training, technical support and qualifications for lifting equipment examiners is becoming more and more attractive.ö
