Potain has received an order for eight tower cranes for the Istanbul Olympic Stadium project in Turkey.

Local representative Tekno Insaat Makinalari supplied two each of H30/36, H30/40, K40/27 and MD 345. The Topkit MD 345 cranes feature a jib length of up to 76m and a maximum lifting capacity of 12t at 3.7m.

The cranes will rise to final underhook operating heights of 75m to 80m and will be used to place pre-cast elements and steelwork for the roof, as well as formwork and reinforcement.

The 80,000-seat stadium, designed by French architects and being built by a Franco-Turkish joint venture, is due for completion in mid-2001. Istanbul is bidding to host the 2008 Olympic Games.
