CRANE SAFETY 2003, a major industry event being held in London in June, has secured the support of leading manufacturers Terex and Liebherr Nenzing.

Both companies have agreed to work with Cranes Today, which is organising the event, to ensure its success.

Crane Safety 2003 comprises two conferences: Mobile Crane Safety, being held on Monday 16 June, and Tower Crane Safety, being held on Tuesday 17 June. A products fair accompanies both events.

On Wednesday 18 June all delegates also have the opportunity to go on a guided technical visit of the Heathrow Terminal Five airport extension project, one of the largest construction projects in Europe. At work on site at that time will be up to 30 Terex Comedil flat top tower cranes, owned by rental company Select Tower Cranes, which is hosting the visit. Also at work on site will be the very latest in crawler crane technology, Liebherr Nenzing cranes owned by rental company Weldex.

Fil Filipov, president of Terex Cranes, said: "Terex Demag is very confident of its future and would like to invite customers and operators to learn more about crane safety. It is one of our top priorities when designing our equipment. Terex Demag will continue to emphasise safety, performance and best value." Roman Pfister, director of Liebherr Nenzing's crawler cranes division, said: "Safety aspects have always been crucial issues for the design of crawler cranes. Over the years we have experienced a growing demand from our customers for safety. We are therefore very proud to announce the involvement of Liebherr Nenzing in Crane Safety 2003. Personally I see this forum as good chance for the crane industry to discuss and further develop all issues relevant to safety."
