China National Chemical Engineering Co. (CNCEC) signed an agreement to confirm the largest order of Terex cranes ever purchased in China.

CNCEC has ordered 7 Terex 350t AC350/6 all-terrain cranes and 34 Changjiang truck cranes with lifting capacities between 25t and 130t.

Speaking to Cranes Today at Bauma China in Shanghai, Terex executives expressed optimism about the future of the Chinese crane market.

Terex vice president for global marketing Francois Jourdan estimates that Chinese production of truck cranes stands at around 35,000 units, with few exports, and that the country will buy around 350 all-terrain cranes a year.

At a total length of 16.7m the AC350/6 is the most compact Terex all-terrain crane in the 350t capacity class, as well as the most powerful.

Terex claim that with its telescopic 60m boom, with a maximum system length of 125.7m, the AC350/6 can perform lifts for which 400-tonners are usually required.

With a wide range of lifting capacities from 8t to 130t, all featuring hydraulic telescopic booms, Terex’s Changjiang truck cranes, manufactured in Luzhou, are fully highway compliant.

Terex Cranes president Rick Nichols noted that China is now the largest construction market in the world.

While the rest of the world suffered a global financial crisis, says Ken Lousberg, president of Terex China, China experienced just a “little dip in exports”.

Terex will supply the 41 cranes by March next year.
