After some tough years, Belgian-based tower crane rental company and crane manufacturer Arcomet has launched a new self erector, the A47 Eco City.

Arcomet chairman Philippe Cohet, who joined the company after leaving Manitowoc, introduced the new crane at Matexpo in Belgium. He said, "Fresh capital, the sale of the division in France and a strategic refocus have turned the tide. We are now looking at our development plans towards a bright future.

"The combination of manufacturing and rental of tower cranes makes us unique in the market. We have engineers who know how cranes are designed, built, repaired and maintained. This reinforces the quality of our service, while staying competitive."

The new A47 Eco City builds on the company's existing A45, but with a number of key new features. Marketing manager Gerd Vandecruys said, "Not only has the jib been lengthened [from 45m to 47m], but we have increased the maximum load and have incorporated a number of structural improvements (like for a more flexible mast assembly) compared with the A45 Eco City. Our cranes contribute to increased safety and productivity on the construction site, and more efficient power consumption was also an important point of attention. The A47 is equipped with the latest frequency control technology on all movements.

"We have noticed that our clients are finding it more difficult to get a 63 amp power supply from the network operator. We are addressing this problem with our new self-erecting crane. The A47 Eco City can handle a maximum load of 6000 kg and yet it operates at 32 amps."
