Subsidiaries of Dutch heavy lift and offshore specialist Jumbo have opened new offices in Beijing, China, and Perth, Australia.

In Australia, Jumbo Offshore has opened a new regional office in Perth. The office will be headed up by newly promoted business development manager for Australasia and South East Asia, Sjoerd Meijer. Meijer will be responsible for seeking out new subsea installation jobs for Jumbo's two DP2 vessels, Jumbo Javelin and Fairplayer. The Fairplayer was recently fitted with deep water winches. This allows it to lift large and heavy vessels from the deck and place them directly on the seabed. The ship can install sections weighing 600t at a depth of 1,700m, and 200t at 3,000m.

In China, Jumbo's joint venture with China Shipping, China Shipping-Jumbo Heavy Lift, has opened a new representative office in Beijing. The JV opened its first office, in Shanghai, in 2002. The office will be headed up by branch manager Simon Jiang.
