Mammoet recently worked with All West Demolition to demolish the six storey Bank of Montreal building in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The removal of the old bank building will make way for the construction of the tallest building in Edmonton, which will consist mainly of housing units.

It was essential that the works were executed within as little area as possible in order to minimize disturbance to the busy downtown streets and surrounding businesses. Initially, All West Demolition requested Mammoet’s Liebherr LTM 1500 crane to carry out the works. However, after careful analysis Mammoet experts proposed a slightly smaller crane, the Liebherr LTM 1400. This approach proved to be the most efficient and cost-effective option for the job.

Mammoet started the demolition process by removing the 12.5USt roof trusses. From there the floors were taken down section by section. The teams worked hard to rig up the beams for removal, each weighing up to 32USt.

Mammoet safely and successfully completed all required lifts, while minimizing disturbance to the downtown traffic flow and neighboring areas.
