Manitowoc has announced the appointment of Ingo Schiller as senior vice president of worldwide marketing.

The new role will take effect 1 September 2010 and will see Schiller succeed Bob Hund, who is now concentrating solely on his role as executive vice president of Manitowoc Crane Care, a role he has held since October 2009.

Schiller will now manage all aspects of global marketing, including marketing communications and product management, and will report to Manitowoc president Eric Etchart.

Etchart said: “Ingo brings a depth of knowledge to this role that will enhance our visibility on a global scale. He has a unique talent for strategic thinking, and that should be of tremendous benefit as he and his team develop Manitowoc’s product line strategies.”

Schiller has over 20 years experience within the crane industry, predominantly in sales, marketing and product support. He joined Manitowoc in 2008 as vice president of mobile cranes, following Dave Birkhauser’s retirement. He previously worked as vice president of sales for Liebherr having joined the firm as a mechanic working wrenches on ship cranes before moving into sales.
