Palfinger North American has launched a new distribution firm, Paltec Truck Equipment Company, in order to give its distribution activities a ‘unique identity’.

Paltec has been formed by the merger of Tiffin Loader Crane Co. and Omaha Standard Distribution. Paltec will have branches cross North America in Fort Lauderdale, Charlotte, Atlanta, Birmingham, Nashville, Louisville, Indianapolis and Dallas, as well as locations in Council Bluffs, Iowa and Tiffin, Ohio.

Omaha was acquired by Palfinger in 2008 as part of its takeover of commercial truck body manufacturer Omaha Standard Inc., and had previously traded as Fontaine Truck Equipment Company. Tiffin Loader Crane was bought by Palfinger in 2001, and is one of the company’s largest articulating crane dealers.

“Palfinger strongly believes in independent distribution,” said Mark Woody, president of Palfinger North America.

“The Paltec name gives our distribution company a unique identity, distinct from Palfinger’s manufacturing companies, reflecting its independent management and operations.”

Ed Gerken, Paltec’s midwest regional vice president of operations, said: “The new company combines the best of two great distribution companies with decades of success and experience.”
