Kalmar has received an order for two ship-to-shore (STS) cranes from customers in Latin America looking to increase their cargo handling capacity.

Infrastructura Portuaria Mexicana has ordered one STS crane for its Altamira terminal in Mexico. This crane will have an outreach of 49m, backreach of 19m and 37m hoisting height. The order forms part of Infrastructura Portuaria Mexicana’s efforts to purchase newer and more efficient equipment ahead of recovery in the global economy.

The other STS crane has been ordered for Port Autonome de la Guadeloupe’s Port de Jarry in Guadeloupe, to extend crane capacity by providing sufficient hoisting height to load and unload the larger vessels now entering the port. It has an outreach of 43m, backreach of 25m and hoisting height of 33m, and will be equipped with a separating twin lift spreader. It is equipped for the tropical conditions and hurricanes prevalent in the area, and is the third Kalmar STS crane at the port.

Delivery of the cranes is scheduled for the end of next year.
