Reality Check: The Future Is Bright
07 December, 2022
It was great to see so many of you, old friends and new faces alike, at this year's Bauma show. To arrive in Munich just as our 50th anniversary issue was being released added to the thrill.

Past, present and future…
17 November, 2022
Welcome to this very special issue of Cranes Today magazine. Why so special? Well 50 years ago, this month, our first issue was published. To mark the occasion, our golden anniversary, we’ve pulled out all the stops and published our largest ever issue. In addition, we’ve gone to print slightly early than usual to benefit from maximum exposure at the long-awaited Bauma trade show in Munich, Germany. Check our updated Bauma guide on to learn about the latest industry offerings that will be on show there.

All together now...
24 October, 2022
The world continues to be a worrying place. Climate change, the cost of living crisis, supply chain disruption, war in Ukraine, and rising gas prices all underpin an uncertain future. As if all that wasn't enough now Queen Elizabeth II has died.

Actions speak louder than words
16 September, 2022
In my editor's comment last month I issued a 'call for action' urging crane owners to make their voice heard in demanding more 'green' equipment options. Well, this month, I'm pleased to say there have been some developments...

Urgent action required
01 September, 2022
Yesterday was the hottest day on record ever here in the UK. Wildfires currently rage in Greece, Spain and Italy as the heatwave moves across Europe.

Looking foward...
22 July, 2022
With summer having well and truly arrived here in the UK, it is with a feeling of optimism that I write this month's Comment. It's not just the sunshine that has returned; international travel is back on the agenda, too. With forthcoming Terex and Liebherr trips, plus Bauma 2022 tickets now booked, I'm looking forward to getting away from a desk and meeting people face-to-face again.

Electric avenue
17 June, 2022
It was nice to catch up with some familiar faces at this year's Vertikal Days show in the UK in mid-May, not to mention all the new people we met whilst there.

Preparation is key to success
24 May, 2022
Fail to prepare; prepare to fail. An old adage, perhaps, yet one that rings true... particularly when it comes to complex lifting and transportation procedures.

The path of progression
29 April, 2022
Progression; development; evolution; and refinement: these are the key themes that underpin much of the content in this month's issue. They are, of course, positive attributes true of mankind in general but they are highlighted, showcased even, when viewed through the focused lens of the construction industry.

Building bridges...
24 March, 2022
I'd like to start this month's comment with an apology.

Historical Perspectives
17 February, 2022
For those of you into your tower crane history, we have a real treat for you this month. Contributor Stuart Anderson's article on page 31 provides great insight into how the tower crane market has developed since its start and, crucially, how it has changed over the last 20 years.

A golden anniversary
21 January, 2022
In November 1972 the first ever edition of Cranes Today magazine was published. This means, later this year, we will turn 50! To celebrate this golden anniversary, over the course of 2022, we will look back at some classic issues from across the decades. This will be in print, across our social media pages and on our website. Digital copies of archive issues will also be made available; if you're interested in obtaining one please get in touch.
