DAS Otomotiv expands in Central Asia

Terex Cranes authorised dealer DAS Otomotiv has been awarded further territory in Central Asia the US manufacturer, being awarded a distribution agreement in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

Cargotec’s Chinese JV

Cargotec has established Sinotruk (Shandong) Hiab Equipment Company a joint venture with the China National Heavy Duty Truck Company (CNHTC). The Finnish manufacturer’s stake in the JV is 50 percent with Cargotec's estimated equity investment in the joint venture during the first operational year approximately €10m. Over several years the firm anticipates the total investment costs of the joint venture would be around €100m.

Manitowoc celebrates Brazilian anniversary with expansion plans

Manitowoc has celebrated the anniversary of the opening of its Passo Fundo, Brazil, plant with plans to expand the range of cranes built at the plant and increase eligibility for local financing. The US manufacturer's first Latin American factory began assembling cranes that were delivered in June 2012, and since then, the manufacturer said, production hasn’t slowed.

Palfinger Dreggen buys MCT assets

Palfinger Dreggen has completed an asset deal for the production of marine and offshore cranes of the Korean crane manufacturer MCT Engineering. The deal follows Palfinger Marine’s takeover of the Norwegian offshore crane manufacturer Dreggen. The company said that it was designed to help expand and intensify the partnership between Dreggen and MCT.

Ingo Schiller named EVP of Manitowoc Crane Care

Manitowoc Cranes has named Ingo Schiller as EVP for its Manitowoc Crane Care customer support division, replacing Robert Hund. The company also announced that Raman Joshi is to head Manitowoc Cranes’ operations in the Greater Asia-Pacific (GAP) region.

Palfinger global spread balances weak Europe

Kobe Steel the parent company of Japanese manufacturer Kobelco has released its consolidated yearly results for 2012. The company said that in the wake of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake the first half of 2012 saw domestic business on a slow increase, with greater demand due to the high levels of reconstruction work. In the second half of the year, Japan’s economy remained weaker and sale of steel, aluminum, and copper products declined. The third quarter saw sluggish overseas market for steel products and a high yen both contributing to a worsening export market
