Terex focuses on margins as demand softens

Announcing lower than expected revenues in the second quarter of 2013, Terex chairman and CEO Ron de Feo told analysts the company had taken 'substantive actions' to reduce costs in its cranes segment. The company expects $15m of restructuring and related costs this quarter to lead to savings of $16m a year.

All the leaves are gone, but the sky has changed

The sun was shining, but the bushes and trees were still without leaves in grounds surrounding Messe München International conference centre where Bauma 2013 was being held. It was fitting, nature it appeared, was reflecting the state of the Western European lifting industry, still bearing the marks of a tough winter, but for the time being at least, bathing in some long awaited sunshine. The majority of those in attendance from the crane business at Germany’s triennieal event agreed that the market was displaying positive signs, but few were getting carried away. Zak Garner-Purkis reports from the show.
