Denzai Bangladesh, subsidiary of the DENZAI Group, has signed a contract with Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company (KAFCO) to manage the replacement of the pool condenser at KAFCO’s ammonia and urea fertiliser plant in Chattogram.
Under the agreement, Denzai Bangladesh will handle the project as a comprehensive package. This includes transporting the new 201t condenser from Italy, followed by heavy haulage, installation, and the removal and disposal of the old unit.
The convoy to move the new condenser will involve ocean freight to Bangladesh and road haulage to the plant.
The company has invested in new equipment for the project, such as the Enerpac LH400SK skidding system and 16 axle lines of Goldhofer self-propelled modular transporters.
Additionally, an 800t crawler crane will be mobilised from Singapore. Construction is expected to start in August.
The contract was formalised by Kohki Uemura CEO of DENZAI Group, and Omar Faruk managing director of Denzai Bangladesh, representing the company.
KAFCO was represented by Md. Abdullah Faruque chief operating officer and Faruk Ahmed general manager (Procurement).
According to the agreement, Denzai Bangladesh will provide heavy lifting, haulage, erection, and installation services for the condenser replacement at KAFCO. The work also includes dismantling and disposing of the existing condenser.
Denzai Bangladesh will use eight of the acquired Goldhofer heavy-duty modules for this assignment.
Omar Faruk said: “We are honoured to have the opportunity to work with KAFCO on this project. Our team is fully committed to delivering it to the highest standards of safety, engineering excellence, and operational efficiency.
“This engagement further strengthens DENZAI Bangladesh Ltd.’s presence in Bangladesh’s industrial and energy sectors, where we are proud to support key facilities with specialised engineering and heavy lifting solutions.”
The KAFCO plant, located in the port city of Chattogram, operates as one of Bangladesh’s largest private-sector fertiliser facilities.
It is structured as a Bangladesh–Japan joint venture, with backing from entities such as Chiyoda Corporation and Marubeni, as well as other international partners.
The initiative reflects ongoing economic collaboration between Bangladesh and Japan, involving multiple Japanese companies and financial institutions.
Last month, Denzai announced the establishment of its European regional head office, Denzai Europe, in Gdynia, Poland.
