Headway for SPMT working group

ESTA reports its SPMT working group is making steady progress and the association aims to produce an updated best practice guide as planned later this year.

The scope of the group's work includes:

•          content of training for operatives

•          new requirements for the stability of trailers

•          the need for accurate information from clients

It is also looking into the lifespan of SPMTs. As the oldest came onto the market 40 years ago, the group is considering whether and how the lifespan of the oldest versions can be safely and cost-effectively extended.

Twelve leading European companies have said they will join ESTA’s discussions. They are Collett, Cometto, DNV, Fagioli, Goldhofer, Mammoet, Sarens, Siemens Gamesa, Technip Energies, Terra Navtica, Tii Group and Wagenborg.
