Chinese truck crane manufacturer Zoomlion has revealed ambitious plans to increase its exports of its hydraulic cranes from the current 10% of production to 40% by 2010.

The company, which produces 2,000 cranes a year in 12 model ranges, already exports its products to Brazil, central Asia, and the Middle East. However, Xuehong Guo, Zoomlion’s vice general manager, told Cranes Today that his company planned to attack the European market with its QY30V 32t capacity truck crane once it had received a CE Mark, which it expects within the next month. He said Zoomlion had already pre-sold 10 of these units to its agent in Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands.

The QY30V has a maximum lifting height of 34.6m, or 42m with a jib. The boom length is 10.7 to 34m, boom extending time is 80s, and elevating time is 48s. The crane has a maximum travelling speed of 75km/h and weight in travelling mode of 29.4t.

Guo revealed that Zoomlion has developed a 160t capacity all terrain – the QAY160, which is undergoing tests at the company’s factory in Changsha, Hunan province. He added: “We have no plans to produce the AT crane in large quantities because demand for this technology is small in the Chinese market, but we are developing the AT strategy for the future.”

The company is also developing a 200t AT crane, which should go into full production next year.

Zoomlion showed its newest truck crane – the 70t QY70V – at Intermat in Paris last month (April). It already has orders for more than 30 of these units, mainly from Brazil, Kazakhstan, and the Middle East. The crane was due to go into full production this month, and Guo estimates that this crane should receive a CE Mark within three months.

The QY70V has a maximum lifting height of 44.2m, or 60.2m with a jib. The boom length is 11.6m to 44m, the boom extending time is 107s, and its elevating time is 57s. The crane has a maximum travelling speed of 75km/h and weight in travelling mode of 45t.

The unit displayed by the company at Intermat was removed from the stand and shipped to crane rental company Costa in Brazil two days before the end of the exhibition.
