The new Goliath crane will enable Daewoo to lift and turn ship blocks weighing up to 800t. The crane is equipped with two 450t hooks, and one 500t hook. The giant gantry crane stands about 100m high, spans more than 148m, and employs 64 wheels to travel down a 500m runway. The crane’s steering and control system uses modern variable frequency controls with built-in programmable logic. An elevator provides access to the operator’s cabin, which is situated 80m high.

Daewoo Shipbuilding produces some 50 vessels, and upgrades over 200 vessels annually.
