The first female crane operator in Belgium, Marina De Keersmaeker, has begun work for rental company Kranen Michielsens. ‘I am very grateful to Michielsens for giving me this opportunity,’ she said. ‘It has always been my dream to drive a crane.’ Managing director Johan Michielsens added: ‘We want to give women a chance at all levels within our company and are convinced that they will operate a crane with the same verve as our men.’
