US manufacturer Auto Crane has upgraded its 5005H telescoping service crane, bringing to three the number of cranes in its range that now have planetary winches.
At the top of the range the 7tm (50,000ft.lb) class 8406H and the 5.2tm (38,000ft.lb) class 6406H were brought to market last year with planetary winches.
The 5005H has a 3.5tm (25,000ft.lb) rating. Like the larger models in the range, new features include as standard both radio remote control – now as standard – as well as a tethered pendant, two-speed rotation, and full power boom extension to 6m (20ft).
Use of planetary winch instead of worm gear makes the line speed three times faster, at 18.3m/min (60ft/min).
The new generation of cranes has Auto Crane’s Smart Crane diagnostic system which enables performance data, including voltage data, lift cylinder pressures and error code histograms, to be downloaded onto a programmed Palm Pilot.
