BRODERSON Manufacturing Corp, specialist US manufacturer of carrydeck and yard cranes, has launched an 18 US ton (16.3t) capacity unit.
The IC-250-3A was shown for the first time at the International Construction & Utility Equipment Exposition (ICUEE) in Louisville, USA in September. Maximum lifting capacity is 36,000lb on outriggers, and it can pick and carry 18,500lb.
The crane is being marketed as having rough terrain capability and as a replacement for the 15 US ton Galleon 150. It was actually introduced in January this year and an undisclosed number have been shipped, but ICUEE marked the start of the formal sales campaign, said marketing manager Steve Burton.
The IC-250-3A measures 2.4m high and 2.4m wide. The four-section boom offers sheave heights up to 24.2m with an offsettable jib attachment and a horizontal reach of 21.3m. It is the largest crane that Broderson offers, and the only one to feature twin lift cylinders under the boom.
Standard features include four wheel steer, powershift transmission and independent outrigger controls. Options include four wheel drive and a load moment indicator. ‘An LMI won’t be standard on Broderson cranes until it is required by ANSI,’ said Burton.
