The Ritchie Brothers auction will include Greystone Equipment’s assets, as well as products from other owners, and will see 15 cranes sold to the highest bidder on the day with no reserve price or minimum bids. A similar auction in Australia last year saw a used 2008 Grove 80t capacity AT crane and a 2004 Grove 100t capacity AT sold for USD1.3m each.

Cranes on sale at the Boston auction include two 250 US t Link-Belt HC268 truck cranes, a 200 US t Link-Belt HC248 truck crane, a 140 US t Link-Belt HC238A truck crane, a 125 US t Link-Belt HC238 truck crane, four 82 US t Link-Belt HC218 truck cranes, a 75 US t Link-Belt HC138A truck crane, a 75 US t Link-Belt HC138 truck crane, a 300 US t Link-Belt LS348 Hylab 5 self-erecting crawler crane, two 300 US t Manitowoc M250 III self-erecting crawler cranes and a 30 US t P&H T300 hydraulic truck crane.

Ritchie Brothers said one of the Link-Belt models was sold brand new for USD2.1m last year and the M250’s are worth USD2.3m each when sold as new.

The auctioneer said it has received interest in the cranes from companies in the US, England, Ireland and India. This, Ritchie Brothers said, is an indication that there is still work around that demands this type of equipment

Stephen O’Duggan, Ritchie Brothers’ territory manager, described the auction as “the first big grouping of large cranes on the market in this region in over four years”.
