A Manitowoc model 18000 crawler crane recently completed work on the Fuyang Power Plant near the Zhoupeng Township in Anhui Province, China.

The crane, rated at a maximum capacity of 750t (827 USt), is owned by Anhui Electric Power Corporation (AEPC), of the Anhui Province, China, which is building the two-unit facility on behalf of the Anhui Fuyang Hengyuan Power Generating Company.

Manitowoc’s 18000 crane has erected heavy components including structural beams, turbines, and coal buckets, on the first of two identical 600MW coal-fired power plant units. The heaviest lift involved setting the 250t (276 USt) rotary section of the turbine, which was 10m (33ft) long and 4m (13ft) diameter. Other large lifts included two transformers – each weighing approximately 100t (110 USt).

The 18000 was rigged with 106m (348ft) of main boom and 39.6m (130ft) of luffing jib for its work on the Anhui site
